Law against carrying an ice cream cone in your back pocket??
In Kentucky, it is illegal to carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket.
My first thought aout this news or fact was,
"Why?" Why is there a law about ice cream? How could
someone carrying ice cream in their back pocket be detrimental or unfair to the
community where they live so that a law had to be enacted? Is it okay to
carry ice cream in your front pocket? Really? I had to investigate. Well, it would appear that Kentucky is
not the only state to have this law and I'm not the only one to wonder why such
a law exists. Believe it or not, this law was made to help curb horse
theft. Yes, I raised my eyebrows as well, but its true. It would
seem that if you carried an ice cream cone in your pocket and walked by a
horse, it was likely to follow you as horses have an affinity for sweets.
If the horse followed you home, you couldn't very well be accused of stealing
it, could you? So, long ago some legislator introduced the ice cream law
as a way to cut down on horse thievery. Now you know. It would seem there are many such laws around the world.
